Veronica R. Chapa Gorczynski is the Executive Director for Early Matters, a historic coalition of business, civic, education, philanthropic and non-profit organizations, working together through a collective impact approach to raise awareness about the importance of high-quality early childhood education as investment in the Greater Houston community.

Prior to this position she served for five years as the Deputy Director for the City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department. She was responsible for Grants Management and Compliance of approximately half a billion dollars during her tenure. Veronica was also a key member of the executive team that planned the deployment of $151 million dollars through place-based investment strategies to help revitalization efforts in the City of Houston.

Veronica is a fellow with the American Leadership Forum Class XXXV, a Board member of the Latin Women's Initiative, an active member of Leadership Houston Class XXX, a 2013-2014 Houston League of Women Voters Rising Star and was recently named one of the most influential future Latino leaders in Houston by Latino Leaders Magazine.

A native of the Rio Grande Valley, Veronica's interests in community development stem from observing challenges from friends and family living in colonias along the U.S./Mexico border. When not working, she enjoys volunteering on projects aimed at improving community engagement, spending time with family and a good glass of wine over a great meal.
