Services Program

The Houston Housing Mobility Program helps families with children up to age 17 who are involved with the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program move to neighborhoods with excellent schools, low crime rates, and amenities within Houston. These neighborhoods are also known for being safe and having fewer families living in poverty.

Our team includes a dedicated advisor known as a Mobility Case Manager, who will guide each family to find the best housing options that meet their needs in these opportunity areas. From the start to the end of your move, and even after you have settled in, your Mobility Counselor will help make sure you have everything you need to successfully find a new home.

Program Benefits

As a participant in the Housing Mobility Program, you can access several benefits to help with your move:

Financial Help: Up to $600 in flexible financial assistance.
Support with Leasing: Up to $1,775 per family to help with leasing expenses.

Support Through Every Step:

1. Getting Ready to Move: You will work with a case manager to identify your needs as you create a moving plan. This will help you successfully search for housing in a high opportunity area.
2. Finding Your New Home: Get help identifying housing, talking to landlords, and covering moving costs.
3. Moving In: Guidance through the process of signing your lease and settling into your new area.
4. Living in Your New Home: Help with practical things like signing up your kids at their new school and finding childcare.

Extra Benefits:

● Help with paying security deposits and moving.
● Our goal is to help your family move into a neighborhood that offers great opportunities for growth and a higher quality of life.
 

Who can join:

  • Current Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) participants
  • Newly admitted HCV participants
  • Project Based Voucher (PBV) participants eligible for a tenant-based voucher
 
 
 
  

Requirements:

  • Be a current HHA Voucher Holder
  • One or more children under the age of 17 in the household
  • Be in compliance with the family obligations
  • Have at least 3 months before current lease ends

 

  
How to Enroll:

  • Contact The Housing Mobility Related Service Program at hhamobility@housingforhouston.com or at (713) 260-0682 for information and enrollment
  • After enrollment, attend a Mobility Workshop to meet your Case Manager and start the process (Note: Mobility Workshop schedule coming soon.)
